Sermon on the Mound

Imagine 850 people attending one baseball game and then worshipping Jesus afterwards! That is exactly what happened at Sermon on the Mound. Immediately following the VSU win, we transformed the baseball field into a place of worship. To make things even better, we had legendary Atlanta Brave, Sid Bream, come and deliver a testimony that many could relate with. “It isn’t about what you have . . . it is about WHO you have,” This is what matters in life! This event proved to be successful and is definitely something that we will build upon in the near future. There is a new baseball attendance record, and it is held by the VSU FCA and their event, Sermon on the Mound!

The Valdosta State University FCA would like to extend a very sincere thank you to the Warren S. Coats Foundation for their efforts and support in the Warren S. Coats/FCA Golf Classic. This tournament reached it's max capacity by hosting 33 teams and boasted 45 Hole Sponsorships. The weather brought us a beautiful, breezy day that created perfect conditions for golf! It is said that, "Warren controls the weather!" Although we know that ultimately God is in control of all things, this is a silly, yet very meaningful statement for those who were close to Mr. Warren S. Coats.

Mr. Warren loved to play golf. He had several golfing buddies that were able to participate and make this day a HUGE success. We would like to thank each of them as well. Warren loved FCA and was sure to have his daughters at the FCA Huddle every Thursday morning. He left a legacy that is simply remarkable.

My favorite quote at this years tournament came from his bride, Cynthia Coats. She said to her two daughters who were standing nearby, "This tournament shows the legacy your dad has left." As I stood just 5 feet behind her, I looked out across the 150 people who were gathered together and whispered, "Let this kind of legacy be said of me."This man made an impact in many lives and is still making an impact today!
